How much does a roof replacement cost in Salt Lake City?
It depends on the size, the pitch, the material, and whether solar panels need to come off and go back on. That’s why the inspection is free: you get your exact number instead of a guess, and once we’ve seen the roof, same-day estimates are available. Financing is available, and military, first responders, and teachers get an automatic $500 off.
Who is Definitive Construction?
A locally run roofing and solar company based in South Jordan. We’ve been serving Utah with solar since 2007 and expanded to roofing in 2018. Every job gets a project manager on site and the same 86 tasks on every roof, and every step is photographed. Get to know us.
Where do you work?

Do you handle insurance?
No roofer in Utah should tell you they handle or negotiate your claim. That work belongs to you, your insurance company, and licensed public adjusters. What we do: we photograph and document the damage, measure the roof, and write a detailed estimate you can give your insurance company. We explain what happens at each step so nothing surprises you. What counts as an “act of God” for a roof?
Usually a sudden event from nature: hail, a windstorm, lightning, or a tree that came down in a storm. Normal wear, age, and skipped maintenance usually are not. Your policy has the final word, so read it or ask your agent.
How can I tell if I have storm damage?
From the ground, look for dents in gutters, downspouts, and vents, shingle granules collecting in the gutters, missing or lifted shingles, and new leaks after a storm. Please do not climb up there. How long does a roof replacement take?
Most residential replacements are done within 24 to 48 hours. Bigger or steeper roofs can take longer. You get a clear timeline with your estimate, before any work starts.
How messy is a roof replacement?
It should not be messy at all. We wrap your home in our Catch‑All system, a skirt that protects your landscaping, your kids’ toys, and your driveway. When we finish, we sweep the whole yard with magnets. You shouldn’t find a nail anywhere, and we don’t leave trash behind.
Do I have to be home during the work?
No, most of the work happens outside. We might need access to your attic or crawl space during the inspection, but after that you can go about your day. A project manager stays on site the whole time, and we photograph everything, so you always know what happened on your roof.
Do solar panels have to be removed to replace a roof?
Yes, panels come down so the roof can come off. Unlike some roofing companies, we are licensed for solar work as well as roofing. That means one company takes the panels down, replaces the roof, and puts them back, rather than you hiring two companies and hoping they talk to each other.
Should I repair or replace my roof?
If your roof is younger than about 15 years and the damage is small, a repair usually makes more sense. If shingles are failing everywhere or the roof is near the end of its life, replacement saves money long term. Our inspectors don’t earn commission, so you get the honest answer either way. Not sure?
